ABSENCE FORMS

Participation in all Marching Band practices and performances is mandatory, although the directors recognize that from time to time a student may need to be absent from a practice or performance due to emergency or extenuating circumstances. Absence Forms MUST be submitted to Ms. Rickard at least two weeks in advance of the practice or performance that will be missed. 

Early Dismissal Policy:

All students are required to ride the school provided transportation to and from band events. For home events, all students are expected to be present throughout the entire duration of the event. 

Early dismissals from performances will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested by a parent/guardian via email or written communication at least 48 hours in advance of the event. Emails should come to Ms. Rickard (erickard@northallegheny.org) and should detail the reason for the request. 

This policy is in place to ensure the integrity of performance, maintain consistent ensemble sound, and support team accountability. Every student plays a critical role, and absences impact the entire group’s performance and cohesion. This policy is also in place to maintain student safety. 

Emergencies will be handled as needed, but all non-emergency requests must follow this policy for consideration.
